Matthew Williamson

Matthew Williamson enjoyed an idyllic childhood at Chesters, near Hexham, where his father was Head Keeper – and now he is working to preserve other private estates in the region.

 

The married 31-year-old, from Ponteland, who qualified four years ago, holds an MSc in Rural Enterprise and Land Management from Harper Adams University, is a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and is a Fellow of the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers. He has been recruited to the position of Associate, a role he has taken up in order to concentrate on estate management.

 

Land Factor manages estates throughout the north of England and southern Scotland and Matthew will be principally involved with overseeing agricultural and commercial tenancies at privately owned Blagdon and Belsay.

 

Matthew, who is a RICS Registered Valuer, spent six years as Assistant Land Agent and, latterly, Associate at a firm of national land agents, where he gained a breadth of experience.

 

“I wanted to specialise in estate management and was interested in a new role where I could manage large estates and Land Factor was the best in this field”. 

 

A keen rural sportsman, he sat on the committee of the Northumberland branch of the Game and Wildlife Conservation Trust and is also a member of the British Association of Shooting and Conservation.

 

“I was fortunate to grow up surrounded by some of the most beautiful countryside in the UK,” he said, “and from quite a young age I was keen to do whatever I could to help preserve rural communities for future generations".

 

“I love everything about rural life – and when I’m not at work, I’m either playing cricket, fishing on the River Tyne or shooting in Northumberland.”

 

“We are delighted to welcome Matthew to the team,” said Land Factor Director Peter Combe.

 

“He brings a breadth of experience to the business and I am pleased that we were able to fulfil his desire to specialise in estate management. He will be a valuable addition to our team.”
