Fishing

The North East is endowed with a number of improving salmon rivers; the Wear and Tees in County Durham and the Tyne, Coquet and Till in Northumberland.

The Tyne in particular has come to prominence recently, with a dramatic recovery from its industrial past.  The effect of improved water quality, particulary in the estuary, and a re-stocking programme following the construction of Kielder Reservoir in the 1970s, has led to the renaissance of the Tyne as a major salmon river.

Through our Estate Management and other roles, Land Factor are actively involved in the management of the Tyne system (the North, South and Main Tyne) and the development of the fishing.  We oversee numerous lettings to clubs and syndicates as well as rods taken by the week.  Income from these lettings has become an increasingly important source of revenue for estates.

Although fishing rights on the Tyne system rarely come to the market, we expect more of this activity in the future.  Land Factor acted in the last major sales at Lee Hall and Tyne Watersmeet, and we have an unparalleled knowledge of the capital values of fishing on the Tyne.
